A New Chapter For Sarah Hill

Today we say goodbye to Sarah Black-Hill who is leaving the WICA after 12 years. Sarah will continue to tackle the adventures of motherhood, fully dedicating her time to her growing family, raising two-year old Andrew and a soon to be second child (whom she won’t be naming Robert after repeated request), with her husband Jordan.

Sarah started with WICA after graduating from East High School just before starting her Freshman year at the University of Utah as the receptionist. Sarah’s friendly and sincere personality quickly won over the membership as THE go to person for member services. Inside of two years having demonstrated a keen eye to detail and planning, Sarah became the Director of Meetings & Special Events while still attending college and maintaining a near perfect GPA. Sarah, having graduated with honors from the U of U business school, had several offers upon graduation and choose to stay with WICA to work full time as the Director of Meetings & Special Events. Over the years Sarah successfully planned the WICA regional events and meetings in addition to the WICA Annual Convention flawlessly setting high standards, for which the association members have come to enjoy. It has been duly noted, multiple times, that if there was a problem at an event it was because of a last minute change that Bob made to the program without Sarah’s knowledge. Sarah’s role and impact on the association was far greater than just the title she held and much of the success and progression we have enjoyed over the years has had her fingerprints and leadership keenly attached.

While not obvious, the past two years Sarah has been working part-time, remotely from Iowa City, while her husband Jordan serves his residency at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics. Next summer they will be moving to Northern California where Jordan will being completing a fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine at Stanford University.

Sarah’s remarkable leadership, personality, drive and commitment will be deeply missed, but we are excited for her as she enters a new chapter in her amazing life.
